As it was “on my way” I visited the Navajo National Monument. Not a big park but interesting settlement in a large cave in a steep wall.
There were a few other visitors, but not many. I walked the trail towards the outlook of the settlement. There was something weird. I stopped walking. All sounds stopped. There was absolute silence. No cars, no worldly noises, at some times not even a bird. This was so weird and nice. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They should expand the facilities with a nature spa resort, to fully de-stress. I would have stayed there.
The view of the settlement is special. When you take a picture of the houses, it almost looks like miniature houses. How on earth did they get the idea to build there? Protection? Not the easiest way to get up and down all the time, with food and animals. Because I would assume you would want your herds close by… And how do you do that with kids? “don’t play on the ridge!”
