Scotland Trip – Rained out Highland Games

Rain rain rain

Disappointing… I envisioned a vast terrain full of action, hundreds of real Scottish men in kilts, bagpipe players every other corner, highland dancers by the multiple dozens, under a blue sky…

Myth busted

Nothing of the above. To start off it was pouring and cold. My camera was still not functioning correctly from the last trip we were walking around in the rain (OId man of storr…). It was a very small terrain here at Lochcarron, with one look you had seen it all… No men in kilt. Not many dancers. The bagpipe player, yes “the”, was hidden with the rest of the symphony under a tree somewhere at the far end of the terrain escaping from the rain. A few athletes with kilt. And let me get it out of this world… they wear SHORTS underneath their kilts… pussies.

Finally, a man in a kilt

We need a drink now...

We need a drink now…

There were more Flemish people on the premises than on a Flemish carnival. A whole group on youth camp from Bruges always comes to participate on this event and a Flemish lady now living in the neighborhood was selling handmade stuff…

We finally found a man with a nice outfit including kilt… he was English, not Scottish. Guess the highlight of the day was inside of the drink tent, where eventually we found a real Scottish guy, with kilt, red hair, beard, woolen long socks… without teeth. We need a drink now…
